The Kera Home is transforming lives for couples like Maria and Lawrence.
“The Kera has had a profound effect on our family.
The Kera has enabled my 75 year old Mother to look after my Dad at home. Keeping Dad at home was their wish, after 57 years of marriage they didn't want to be separated and as a family we wanted to do whatever we could to enable them to stay together.
Having the Kera has meant that Mum can independently move Dad from his hospital bed to his wheelchair, recliner, essentially anywhere he can sit, it's been a great asset as Mum doesn't need to wait on someone to be there or be reliant on anyone.
It has allowed the family to balance our lives as well as we were all rushing over there to help move Dad around and we just couldn't be there all time it just wasn't possible.
When Dad was discharged from hospital they told us that he would be a 3 assist, which meant that at least 3 people were needed to move him but with the Kera, only one person is needed.

Award-winning innovation from New Zealand
The Kera family of hoists have been designed by New Zealand company, HT Systems.
Chief Technology Officer Alex O’Keefe understands the mobility problem first-hand because his sister has spent her life in a wheelchair. Alex started developing innovative mobility solutions to help people like her.
The company was founded by Springfree Trampoline inventor Keith Alexander and has been funded by passionate investors - many of whom were early customers of the company’s products.
Now, led by CEO Richard Shepherd, the company is on a mission to take its innovative mobility solutions to the world.

The new alternative to traditional hoists, made for people with no weight bearing ability:

Spend less time and energy on transfers:
- Don't waste time and energy fitting a sling.
- Transfers in less than 2 minutes!
- Patented technology, hugs the upper body into the chest pad using an 'easy to fit' back strap
- Unique transfer position reduces number of transfers needed and lowers risk of injury to the user and caregiver
